A Special Needs Trust is generally established for the purpose of taking care of a mentally or physically disabled child, individual, or family member who needs special help while at the same time qualifying for Federal assistance. The special needs funds can only be used for “special needs” such as television sets, radios, clothing, computers, trips, etc.
